Here is part of the posting from September, 2004 telling of Samantha's story.
Six year old Samantha Vandenburg, has in the last three years undergone three surgeries to remove a rare form of brain cancer. God had provided the top doctors at U.C.L.A. Hospital to skillfully remove a cancerous tumor one-quarter the size of her brain. She has recovered from the surgeries, but she is in a battle for her life. The intensive radiation and chemotherapy she has gone through to stop this deadly form of cancer has taken a toil on her body but not her spirit. She knows she is loved by God and she draws her strength from Him. She currently has been in remission. Samantha had her quarterly MRI check up on Oct. 4th, 2004 and it was clear of any new tumor growth. This is the first time her MRI check up has been clear. Praise the Lord! Please continue to pray for clear MRI's and complete healing from any illness.
Samantha is a delightful little girl and only child of our stepbrother, Jack. She is truly a Princess in the Kingdom of Heaven worthy to be loved, cherished, to be healed and to live a full life as a Child of God. We ask for prayers for strength of her body to overcome this aggressive form of brain cancer, that she will have full recovery and be healed and regain her fine motor skills and memory problems quickly. We also ask for her and her loved ones to be placed gently into God's hands, to lean on him, draw closer to the Lord, trust him and gain comfort from the Lord during this time.
